When Sally Ducrow began direct carving, her principal mentor told her: "Let the stone teach you". She has always tried to follow this advice, at the same time seeking to refine and purify the lines of her work in order to bring out the essence of the subject, whether figurative or abstract. Her preferred materials are marble, serpentine, and hard limestone.
The cat is one of her favourite subjects, not only for its innate elegance and sensuality but also for its ability to change in an instant from a state of extreme serenity to one of lightning action.

Quand Sally Ducrow a démarré la taille directe, son mentor principal lui a dit: "Laissez-vous guider par la pierre". Elle essaye toujours de suivre ce conseil, tout en cherchant des formes de plus en plus épurées pour mieux faire sortir l'essence du sujet, qu'il soit abstrait ou figuratif. Ses matières préférées sont le marbre, la serpentine, et le calcaire dur.
Le chat et un de ses thèmes favoris - elle s'en inspire non seulement par son élégance et sa sensualité innées, mais également par sa capacité à passer d'un état de grande sérenité à un éveil foudroyant.
